Who am I?

My name is Allison Onstead. It’s a pleasure to meet you! I live in Pennsylvania, and I enjoy traveling, hiking, and reading. And, of course, I love scoping and proofreading!

I have been an avid reader my entire life. I have always believed that a good story can cause magical things. Having lived most of my life with a book in my hands, I always wanted to find a way to turn my reading obsession into a career. That door was opened to me at age 16, when I was asked to proofread and edit documents for a local church. While still in high school, I then started working as a proofreader for multiple local churches, businesses, and organizations. And so my proofreading journey began!

In 2019, I decided to turn my skills into an official business by taking Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice. This course, based on NCRA guidelines and several other trusted resources, helped me transform myself from a person who enjoyed proofreading as a hobby into a confident, professional proofreader. After graduating in 2020, I officially started my business. In 2021, after being trained by a few reporters (and spending countless hours learning the software), I expanded my business to include scoping. I am proficient on CaseCAT, Eclipse, and DigitalCAT, and I currently work with many wonderful reporters on all three softwares!

I take pride in my work and use it to help ease some of the burden court reporters may feel. Working with an understanding and appreciation of the world of court reporting, as well as the skills needed to perfect your transcripts, I help take the final steps needed to turn in a polished job. I would love to work with you and show you just what I can do! I look forward to hearing from you, and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or requests!
